Typing Tutorial
The first typing lessons are relatively simple – a few letters at a time, but as you progress the lessons will become more complex until you will finally become a touch typing expert.
And, if you wish to focus on specific letters, you have the option of practicing on a text that YOU provide, or practice on real life BBC News texts in various subject areas!
Tips for success
:
- When you are learning to type - don't look at the keyboard - not even a quick peek! Look only at the screen.
- You can easily find the starting position without looking at the keyboard - feel the bumps on the letters 'U' and 'H' (at the bottom of the key).
- In the beginning of the typing lessons, you will be practicing with letters that don’t spell out any words. As you get to know the keys, you will use "real" words and sentences. That is the only way to really be successful when learning to type.
- Be sure to measure your touch typing speed periodically - with our typing test you can check your progress in both speed and accuracy as you learn. The number of words per minute indicates your typing level. If you are still not satisfied with the results - go back to the keyboarding tutorial and keep practicing!
